The Second International Scientific Conference - “Child in Focus - A Multidisciplinary Approach”

We hereby extend an invitation to scientists working with children and on the protection of children’s rights to participate in the Second International Scientific Conference “Child in Focus - A Multidisciplinary Approach,” which will be held online on the: 7th and 8th October 2021 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar.

The Second International Scientific Conference - “Child in Focus - A Multidisciplinary Approach”

The goal of the conference is to exchange contemporary knowledge and ways of overcoming the challenges children deal with by putting special emphasis on the multidisciplinary approach in overcoming the current pandemic crisis. The conference shall also discuss potential prejudices and fears regarding professional work with children, as well as encourage the acquisition and development of new ideas and methods in the multidisciplinary approach to children.

General information

We hereby extend an invitation to scientists working with children and on the protection of children’s rights to participate in the Second International Scientific Conference “Child in Focus - A Multidisciplinary Approach,” which will be held online on the 7th and 8th October 2021 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar.

The goal of the conference is to exchange contemporary knowledge and ways of overcoming the challenges children deal with by putting special emphasis on the multidisciplinary approach in overcoming the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The conference shall also discuss potential prejudices and fears regarding professional work with children, as well as encourage the acquisition and development of new ideas and methods in the multidisciplinary approach to children.

Conference theme

The scientific conference will try to provide answers to the following questions with an emphasis on the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic:

  1. How has the pandemic crisis impacted children’s rights?
  2. How to protect children and react to the phenomenon of cyberbullying in new modern times?
  3. How to understand children’s mental health?
  4. How can various therapeutic approaches (medical, social, psychological, educational) improve recovery after traumatic experiences?
  5. How do professionals deal with stress when working with children?

 Call for Papers and Topics

Topic Panels:

  • Social work with children during the COVID-19 pandemic: Family-legal protection of children, Children with developmental disabilities, Child victims of violence, Children without parental care, Marginalized children;
  • Behavioural Disorders in Children and work with children during the COVID-19 pandemic: Children in contact with the law, The challenges of raising and educating children;
  • Children and Mental Health with emphasis on the COVID-19 period: Child Psychology, Children's psychiatric disorders, Psychological-psychiatric diagnostics, Therapeutic approaches, Prevention;
  • Children and the media during the COCID-19 pandemic.

The Abstract should be submitted in two languages (Croatian and English). Keywords (up to 5 to 7 words). Submissions for an individual paper presentation should include a proposal of no more than 250 words or less, containing the following information: introduction to the research question(s), description of methods, results, brief discussion and implications. A reference list is not required for the submission.

The abstract is part of the application form and should be written in it.

  • The date of Conference: 7th - 8th October 2021.

Important dates:

  1. Registration and abstract submission by 31st July 2021 - on mail dijeteufokusu@ff.sum.ba;
  2. Notice of acceptance of the submission will be sent by 10th August 2021;
  3. Submission of complete papers by 25th September 2021.

Conference program and presentation schedule will be sent by 30th September 2021. The detailed program of the Conference will be sent to all the participants in due time via e-mail and will be posted on the website of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences https://ff.sum.ba/hr/node/24227.

Conference fees

The conference fee for authors delivering papers is 100.00 convertible marks (early bird fee until 20th August 2021), after which period the conference fee will be 120.00 convertible marks. The conference fee for observers is 80.00 convertible marks (for fees paid by 20th August 2021) after which the registration fee is 100.00 convertible marks. The conference fee for foreign participants is 50.00 euros (for fees paid by 20th August 2021), after which period the conference fee will be 60.00 euros.
